On Saturday April 4th, Guernica poets Ellen S. Jaffe, Michael Mirolla, and Irene Marques will be reading at Vino Rosso Bar & Restaurant. They will be joined by poets Norman Cristofoli and Norman Allan. The reading is part of the Words and Music Salon, and will run from 1:30-4:30 pm. Vino Rosso is located at 995 Bay Street, Toronto and the event will be hosted by Peter Solmes and Linda Stitt. Featured musicians for the Words and Music Salon will include Ann-Marie Boudreau and Brian Blain.
Ellen S. Jaffe has written many books, including her book of poetry Water Children, the young adult novel Feast of Lights, and Writing Your Way: Creating a Personal Journal. Her second poetry collection Skinny-Dipping with the Muse was published by Guernica editions, and is about the writer’s experience of diving ‘into the destructive element’.
Michael Mirolla has written two novels: the recently-released The Facility, and Berlin (a 2010 Bressani Prize winner and finalist for the 2009 Indie Book and National Best Books Awards); two short story collections – The Formal Logic of Emotion (recently translated into Italian and released in 2010) and Hothouse Loves & Other Tales; and two poetry collections: the English-Italian Interstellar Distances/Distanze Interstellari, and Light And Time.
Irene Marques is the author of several English-language poetry collections, including Wearing Glasses of Water, The Perfect Unraveling of the Spirit, and The Circular Incantation: An Exercise in Loss and Findings. She has also written a Portuguese short story collection, Habitando na Metáfora do Tempo: Crónicas Desejadas (Dwelling in the Metaphor of Time: Desired Chronicles).
