Hours Reviewed in the Montreal Review of Books

The newest issue of the mRb features a review of the latest translation of Fernand Ouellette’s poetry. This spring, hoursGuernica Editions published Hours, which was first published under the title Les heures in 1988. Les heures marks a turning point in Fernand Ouellette’s poetics while at the same time marking a memorable date in Quebec literature. Sparked by the death of his father, Les heures was written in a month, a feverish period of work that produced 81 poems to match the age of his father upon his death. “D’Alfonso conveys a strong sense of the solemnity of the occasion and the way that it is commemorated.” writes Bert Almon in his review of the translation.
