Michael Carrino Featured in Toronto Quarterly Literary & Arts Journal

michaelcarrinoMichael Carrino, author of By Available Light: New and Selected Poems (Guernica 2012), has been featured in a long and lovely interview by Carmelo Militano at the Toronto Quarterly Literary & Arts Journal!

Highlights of the interview include a few poems from By Available Light, the motivations and memories behind his poetry and his writing, erotica (or its quiet presence in his poetry). Militano writes:

“Carrino’s poetry aims to present in simple and direct language evocative images drawn from the past as well as seeking to trace the outlines and moods of people, cityscapes such as New York and Montreal or the battered Atlantic seashores. Childhood experiences of family, night sounds, chiaroscuro light, and sea stories or an early glimpse and the later, the quiet, still adult apprehension of the erotic, all exists side by side in Carrino’s poetry”.
