Bianca Lakoseljac To Lead Writing Workshop at Parkdale Public Library April 30th

Bianca Lakoseljac, author of Bridge in the Rain (Guernica, 2010) and Summer of the Dancing Bear (Guernica, 2012), will be leading the writing workshop, Ten Steps to Crafting the Novel, at the Parkdale Public Library (1303 Queen Street West, Toronto) on Tuesday, April 30,  2013, at 6:30 to 8:00 pm. This is the third time the workshop is being hosted after its success at the Brentwood and Runnymede Public Libraries.

Whether you are a novice or an experienced writer who would like to explore ways of finding inspiration, choosing a setting, developing characters, drafting a blueprint, or waving your magic wand and making your well crafted prose click, you will enjoy this systematic approach to the task of novel writing.

Bianca holds an Honours BA and an MA in English Literature from York University in Toronto, and is the recipient of the Matthew Ahern Memorial Award in Literature. Her writing has appeared in journals and anthologies such as Canadian Woman Studies, Canadian Voices, and Migrating Memories: Central Europe in Canada. She taught at Ryerson University and Humber College over a ten year period.

Summer of the Dancing Bear, which chronicles the rite of passage of a 14-year-old girl befriended by a gypsy clan and is set in the former Yugoslavia, is her first novel.

The event is free of charge and everyone is welcome!
