Denise Desautels, author of The Night Will Be Insistent: Selected Poems 1987-2002 (Guernica 2006) and Things that Fall (Guernica 2013), and Michael Mirolla, co-publisher of Guernica Editions and a novelist, short story writer, poet and playwright, will be reading at Lapalabrava in Montreal on March 20, 2013 at 7pm.
Lapalabrava is a series of lectures and poetry in three languages (French, English, and Spanish). Lapalabrava has been running for three years; it started out in 2007 at Sofía Bitrán’s Café Volver. The café closed last year, but the reading series continues at La Petite Marche on St-Denis. The series also features an open mic segment.
Denise Desautels was born in Montreal. She won the Prix de la Fondation Les Forges for Leçons de Venice (1990), the Governor General’s Award and the Prix de la revue Estuaire for Le saut de l’ange (1992), the Prix de la Société des écrivains canadiens and the Prix de la Société Radio-Canada for Tombeau de Lou (2000). In 1999 she received La Médaille Échelon vermeil, the highest honour given by the city of Paris.
We are very proud to be a part of Lapalabrava and we hope that if you are able you will attend this series!
