Amphetamine Heart To Be Launched By TINARS

Liz Worth‘s Amphetamine Heart is set to be launched by This Is Not A Reading Series this October in what promises to be a creative and crazy evening. Get set for a poetic performance by Liz, readings by Walschots and poet Jim Johnstone, an array of grotesquely fascinating freakshow stunts from Triage, a movie short, and the oddly sweet sounds of the grungy, punky garage rock band, comprised of former members of the Tijuana Bibles and The Threat, The Weirdies. Presented by TINARS, Guernica Editions and Literary Press Group of Canada.

Where: Parts and Labour, 1566 Queen Street West, Toronto
When: Thursday, October 13 – doors open at 8:30; event starts at 9:00
Admission is $5.00 or FREE with a book purchase

Amphetamine Heart was written over a three-year period. The poems are linked by discomfort and decay, frequently capturing the urgency of paranoia and self-harm. The collection is about excess and the imbalance that it brings. It’s about people who don’t remember how they got home at the end of the night. It’s about broken illusions and the dark undercurrents that often permeate party culture. Amphetamine Heart is being published as part of Guernica’s First Poets Series, which features first full poetry collections by writers 35 and younger.
