To learn more about the event, check out the Daughters for Life website. Daughters for Life, founded in 2010, is a registered Canadian charity that provides young women in high school and university the opportunity to develop a strong voice and play a more influential role in improving the quality of life throughout the Middle East through their education.
Joseph Maviglia is a poet and singer-songwriter of southern Italian descent whose work juxtaposes the traditional rural music of southern Italy with contemporary North American urban roots music. His poetry has appeared widely in journals and magazines in Canada and the United States, and both his poetry and songs are the result of two cultural influences coming together to create a musical and poetic hybrid. Joseph’s full length collection of poetry, A God Hangs Upside Down was published in 1994 by Guernica Editions.
